John Veney: This is NOT the Time to Quit

Today’s blog post is about never quitting or giving up on your dreams.

I am reminded of a Sunday School lesson that I had years ago about King David who was a young buck just starting out in life when he was selected by God to be the new King over the nation of Israel.

Don’t worry I am not going to get preachy on you, but this lesson from David’s life  has been invaluable for my success in life.

At one point David was being hounded and hunted like some wild animal by the reigning king, Saul. David’s situation got so bad that he had to hide in a cave until he got the all clear signal.

He had a javelin thrown at him by Saul but David never faltered in his understanding of what his mission and purpose in life was.

David knew who he was and what he was called to do.

Having a clear vision of what you are supposed to do with your life is great, but what if you don’t know where you are supposed to be or what you are supposed to be doing?

My advice to all of my students of success is to start where you are. Your gifts and talents will get you going in a direction. It may not be what you thought, but it gets you going, and that is the main idea.

Remain open to inspiration; remain open to making a move, taking next step toward your success.

David knew that one day he would be king but he also understood the importance of timing and perseverance. If he was crowned king at the wrong time his reign would be short lived and ineffective.

Patience is big part of success. Hang in there. David could have had a pity party, he could have found some corner in hiding and sucked his thumb and said, “poor, poor pitiful me,” but he didn’t and you know why. He understood the progression of success and leadership. He also understood it was not all about him.

David had hundreds of lives he was responsible for. You see his followers dreams were tied directly to his and he knew if he quit, they would suffer the brunt of King Saul.

This is not the time to give up. If you are doing what is right, your time will come. You will reach your goal. You will achieve your success.

Just Don’t Quit. Don’t Give Up. You have already won. Just keep going forward.
