You’re Elected!

Donald Trump is supposedly getting serious about making a run for the Presidency in 2012.

We’ve been hearing rumblings and hints about this off an on recently, but according to the latest story, he is now telling his closest friends that he will definitely declare his candidacy in the Spring of 2011.

Ronald Kessler story

I remember when Trump fulfilled his wish to own a pro football team, buying the New Jersey Generals of the old World Football League after NFL owners blackballed him.

I and many others have been disappointed for a long time over the fact that no one who is actually capable of running this country would ever actually run for the office — because of the extreme drop in lifestyle and pay that a victory would mean.

But we didn’t take into account the massive ego of The Donald.

Sure, we all know this country desperately needs someone with a clue about how to fix the economy and how to return our country to the level of respect it once had among other countries in the world. And we know Donald Trump is certainly someone who could make both of those things happen (whereas I can’t imagine any politician who could do either).

But I’ll still be amazed if he actually runs.

  • Why would he want all that stress?
  • Why would he want all the negative attention (even more than he now gets)?
  • Why would he want to give up his current lifestyle?

Could it be because he really cares that much about the future (and present) of this country?

In my opinion, that’s important to him. But even more important to him would have to be that he could prove that he is able to attain the position of highest political power in the country (if not the world).

What are your thoughts on “President Donald Trump”?

  • Do you think he’ll really run?
  • Do you think he would win if he did?
  • Why do you really think he would run?
  • Do you think he’d be a good President if he won?

I’d love to read your comments…

I don’t think it’s the drop in lifestyle and pay that cause people to avoid running for President. Running also embraces having your whole life on display for the world to view; having your friends and family members interrogated … privacy is G-O-N-E.

President Trump? I’m wary of special topic candidates. Maybe we end up with a balanced budget, but what happens to our prison systems, bridges and highways, the food we eat, etc? If elected, would he build powerful teams around the areas that aren’t related to what he does best?

I’d like to seem him run if he wins. Otherwise, he will split the conservative vote and almost ensure another 4 years of Obamanation. America might not survive that, to the glee of the deluded or evil liberals who do not understand that everything costs something, and someone has to pay.

America needs to get down to the business of business. Jobs. AND ending the unholy alliance between business and government that makes companies like Haliburton win billion dollar government contracts rife with fraud and waste. The best way to do that is to reduce the size of government, but get serious about prosecuting political corruption, and business gaining unfair advantage through political contacts. If government does not over-regulate every industry, then it will not make economic sense for industry to pay off the government for favors.

This country was founded on good ideas. Freedom being the main one. Free enterprise. Government being there to ensure non-initiation of force or fraud, and to provide for the common defense. Slowly, we are becoming a European-style semi-Socialist state, and it isn’t “cool” to love America and acknowledge that she is the best hope for mankind.

We definitely need someone to come in and start cleaning house. Is the Donald that guy? Well, he is certainly closer than the other Stooges like Obama, Hillary, Mitt Romney, et. al.

Oz: Hmmmm… What you pointed out is EXACTLY what I meant by a drop in lifestyle.

Scott: Well said. The point is not not what particular minor negatives might be associated with someone capable of running this country, but what the incredibly-far-inferior other choices we will otherwise continue to be stuck with.

Drop in lifestyle? I’d love to have a private chef at taxpayers’ expense, and visit countries without having to apply for a visa. Any way …

    Trump doesn’t thrill me.
The only way to win and have any real effect would be to get voters on his side much like Ross Perot did. When the voters–Dems and GOPs alike–took Perot seriously, the career politicians were forced to take Perot seriously. Can Trump do that?

Is a European-style semi-Socialist country so bad? I don’t know. But when I think about Government, courts, laws, etc, there’s more than just jobs and the economy. I do want someone who thinks about things like the FCC, what’s allowed to go into our food, and the cost (financial and cultural) of throwing people in prison.

Oz! We apparently have two different ideas of Trump’s lifestyle. There is zero doubt in my mind that Donald Trump has had all the private jets, private chefs, security guards, freedom to travel, etc. etc. he could ever want for a looooooooooooooooong time now, as do many, many wealthy Americans.

Which is why the added pressure/lack of privacy/etc. would be a drop in lifestyle for him — without much additional benefit other than personal satisfaction of having gotten America back on its feet and to a high level of respect among nations, plus the enormous ego boost of being able to say he was elected President of the United States.

As Zig Ziglar says, “Money isn’t everything. But it’s right up there with breathing.”

Trump knows how to add value to everything he touches, and thus how to make money. That would go a long way to solving many of this country’s biggest problems (money builds schools, bridges, highways, factories, etc. etc. etc.)

I’ll take care of regulating what goes into my own mouth and what I watch on TV, thank you. Give me someone in charge who can actually get some results for the financial good and international respect of our country.

Does anyone know why my photo is not showing up in my own comments on my own blog?

It shows up when I post comments on lots of other blogs and forums all over the internet — so why not here?

Thanks in advance for your help.
