Royal Comeback

a

A few weeks ago, it seemed like the entire free world was consumed with following every minute-by-minute update about “The Royal Baby.”

Now I personally happen to have precisely zero interest in the goings-on of a pampered, privileged family on another continent thousands of miles away.

But clearly I am in the minority in terms of my attitude towards such “news” and its urgency and importance.

When will the baby be born?

Will it be a boy or a girl?

What will they name him or her (and when)?

Blah… Blah… Blah…

While a majority of Americans seem to live and die with every update about the British Royal Family, I couldn’t be bothered knowing anything about them – other than the fact that our ancestors fought to the death in a revolution to get away from a British King a couple of hundred years ago.

And did you know?

It wasn’t that long ago that most Americans shared my apathy and even distaste for the British Royal Family.

My beautiful wife Michele brought home a movie last week. I had no idea what “Hyde Park On Hudson” would be about, until early in the movie when I asked her if the lead character was supposed to be Franklin Roosevelt (having grown up in New York, I remembered learning something about FDR being from Hyde Park during his days as Governor). I also asked if the actor playing him was Chicagoland’s own Bill Murray.

Sure enough, the answers were “yes” and “yes.”

What I had no idea about was the central story of the movie (or the fact that Murray received a Golden Globe Best Actor nomination and Roger Ebert gave the film 3 1/2 stars).

Much of the action took place during a June 1939 visit to Roosevelt’s home by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I just before the start of World War II.

Yes, I know – that’s an awful lot of roman numerals for half a sentence, but this is The Royal Family we’re talking about here.

Anyway…

The whole idea behind that visit was for King George to attempt to get into FDR’s good graces and plead for U.S. support in the upcoming battle against the Axis Of Evil that did, in fact, begin just three months later.

In other words, the U.S. and Great Britain were NOT best friends and closest allies at the time.

And the American public, therefore, was NOT infatuated with all things Royal. Far from it, in fact.

My favorite scene takes place early in the movie, while the Royals were on their way from their plane to FDR’s estate. King George asks the driver to stop the car, saying “I’d like to meet some Americans.”

The King stands outside of the car smoking a butt, and a farmer drives slowly by on a tractor. The King smiles at him and waves, but the farmer just looks at him, says nothing and keeps right on driving.

“Doesn’t he want to meet you?” asks the Queen.

“He’s busy,” replies the King.

If anything even remotely similar to that happened today, the entire civilized world would be shocked and amazed – even outraged!

But my immediate thought was, “Hey! That guy’s just like me – he’s focused on producing something of value and doesn’t give a rip about the British Royal Family either!”

Flash ahead a few generations to today, and most Americans couldn’t conceive of such indifference towards the King and/or Queen and/or Prince and/or Duchess and/or whatever.

So…

What the heck has any of this got to do with helping you grow your business?

Here’s how it can help you…

The moral of the story is that any person, business or institution can go from being virtually unknown (or even despised!) to universally recognized and loved – IF they take the right actions.

I’m not going to go into all of the details of the relationship between the British Royal Family and The American Public in this article, and how the Royals went from being completely ignored to being universally adored in a short amount of time. You can look that up and study all the history – if you have access to one of my favorite, secret research tools known as “Google.com.”

What I am suggesting you do is this…

  1. BELIEVE that ANYONE can take the right actions to become widely known, respected and loved in a relatively short amount of time (yes, even YOU!)
  2. LEARN from those who have done it, and MODEL their strategies and tactics
  3. Take MASSIVE ACTION to make it happen for yourself and your business – starting NOW!

I’ve taught this to thousands of people just like you for over 35 years, and I give you dozens of ways to make it happen — that you can study and put to use any time you want — at my online money-making headquarters: SSSMarketingUniversity.com.
